Illustrative arithmetic, not financial advice, eligibility or a lender offer. How the tools work

01

Get the account-specific threshold

Use the utility’s current notice or confirmed arrangement to identify the amount due, deadline and accepted payment method. A partial payment may not stop disconnection unless the utility confirms that it will.

The tool does not calculate a grace period or shutoff protection. Those depend on the applicable rules and account circumstances. If the deadline is immediate, contact the utility directly rather than treating a calculator result as an arrangement.

02

Use assistance resources without counting unconfirmed awards

211 connects people with local help for utility expenses, and USA.gov explains energy-assistance routes such as LIHEAP. The relevant program must confirm its current rules and availability. 211 — Utility expenses USA.gov — Help with utility bills

The resource buttons open those services; Just Now Loan does not maintain a complete local-program database or determine your eligibility. A selected state is not a verified list of lenders or assistance awards.

Do not count an application number as a payment. Ask whether assistance is approved, who receives it and whether the utility will recognize it before the deadline.

03

Separate a payment arrangement from budget billing

Ask the provider what a proposed arrangement actually changes: today’s required payment, future installment dates, new charges and the account balance remaining. An averaged monthly bill and a past-due repayment arrangement are not automatically the same service.

Keep the written terms next to the worksheet. The tool subtracts only confirmed relief usable by the deadline, not the entire balance of a plan whose payments still remain your responsibility.

04

Calculate the residual gap after confirmed help

Enter the payment threshold confirmed by the utility, available cash and confirmed assistance applicable before the deadline. The result cannot go below zero. If the amount is covered, the planner does not create a new borrowing need.

For a remaining gap, inspect the actual net cash and timing of any loan quote. Paying a lender fee that reduces the deposit below the utility threshold would leave the original problem unresolved.

05

Next month’s utility bill does not disappear

The budget check includes the usual utility expense as well as a proposed new installment. Mark a recurring gap when ordinary monthly charges already exceed the available budget. That result puts assistance and a provider conversation ahead of a new-payment route.

The planner cannot contact the utility, freeze the account or guarantee restored service. Confirm accepted payment methods and when a payment will be credited to the account.

06

Before choosing a loan fallback

Verify the provider, data disclosure, credit-inquiry stage, cash received and full repayment cost. Do not assume a quick application means funding before a shutoff deadline. CFPB — Personal loans consumer resources

Use the emergency-loan page for a broader one-time expense plan, or the requirements checker to organize documents. Neither action sends a loan request from this website.
