SMALL AMOUNT. COMPLETE COST PICTURE.
Just Now LoanA small gap deserves a right-sized borrowing route
Check whether the product starts at the amount you actually need. Then compare the payment concentration and the cash left after charges.

Match the minimum to the need
A product with a higher minimum may deliver more debt than the bill requires. Compare the requested amount with the actual gap before considering a provider. The extra cash is still principal to repay, even when the monthly installment looks manageable.
Use the amount bands to open a focused calculation. The bands are a navigation choice for this website, not a legal definition of small-dollar lending or a promise that any provider serves the band.
Repayment models are not interchangeable
| Route to investigate | Question that changes the comparison | What not to assume |
|---|---|---|
| Your bank’s small-loan product | Does it require an existing account or a particular relationship history? | Having an account automatically qualifies you. |
| Credit-union small loan or PAL | Does the credit union offer the product, and do you meet its membership and lending conditions? | Every credit union offers the same product. |
| Personal installment loan | Is the minimum amount suitable and are payments compatible with your income dates? | A longer term always makes a loan cheaper. |
| Advance or earned-wage product | What event triggers repayment, and are there access, subscription or expedited-delivery costs? | An advance works like a fixed installment loan. |
| Single-payment loan | What total is due at one time, and what remains afterward? | A small principal means a small repayment burden. |
These are categories to investigate independently, not a list of Just Now Loan partners. The NCUA’s PAL resources describe a specific credit-union product framework, not a universal label for every small loan. NCUA — Payday alternative loans
Compare cash received, not only face value
If a charge is withheld at origination, a $500 principal can provide less than $500 to pay the bill. A fee paid separately affects out-of-pocket cost in another way. Identify the treatment before using any comparison.
Our payment model handles a deducted fee explicitly: principal minus the fee is the cash received, while installments are calculated on the principal. Its “cost above cash received” includes the withheld fee as well as modeled interest. It is not an APR calculation.
One due date can be the decisive constraint
Enter the total due on a single-payment quote and the cash you expect to have after essential bills at that time. Compare the remainder with a monthly schedule rather than comparing only the size of the fee.
Use the same uncovered need for both routes. A quote that delivers less cash, requires membership you do not have, or cannot meet the deadline is not a like-for-like alternative, regardless of its headline price.
A practical route check before another application
- Write the uncovered expense and the date it must be paid.
- Ask the bank, credit union or payee you already use about the relevant route.
- Confirm actual amount limits, relationship requirements and how the credit inquiry works.
- Record net cash, full payment schedule and all quoted costs.
- Compare those numbers with the budget that will exist when each payment is due.
Do not submit multiple forms simply to discover whether their minimum amount fits. Published product information or a provider’s support channel may answer that first.
Choose the amount worksheet
The $500 worksheet compares repayment concentration. The $600–$800 worksheet checks minimum-loan mismatch. The $1,000 worksheet focuses on term choice, while the $1,500–$5,000 page measures how increasing the request changes the payment and cost.
No amount selection reserves money or verifies availability in a state. Use the provider’s own current disclosures for those questions.
